blogstreet網站根據BlogRolling（博客網站之間相互鏈接的數量）而排出的名單，還是很具有參考價值。據介紹，參與排名的博客網站數量達到143848個。這個排行榜基本涵蓋了國外主要的優秀博客網站，當然很多是一些陌生的博客網站，需要時間去熟悉。
通過博客鏈接數量來排名很具有實際價值，就像Google用Page Rank來排名的道理差不多。一個鏈接就相當博客世界的一張選票，優秀博客常被人推薦，因此票數就比較高。這比單純的通過訪問量（木子美的訪問量就很驚人，當然BlogRoll就不會高）來排名科學得多。
我想這份排行榜對于國內博客界的一個非常重要的啟發就是：博客并不是木子美現象所昭示的“網上寫日記”，不是自己寫自己個人的生活和隱私。博客是以個人的視角過濾新聞、信息和知識，為別人提供更有價值的內容。博客來源于航海日志（log），日志不是記錄船長的個人私生活，而是記錄航海中重要的信息，供別人參考。航海日志的優秀（他人參考價值大小）與否是衡量一個船長優秀與否的重要標志。
總之，優秀的博客不是表現自我，而且為他人而工作。InstaPundit.Com、Scripting News: 4/5/2004、Slashdot: News for nerds, stuff that matters、Boing Boing: A Directory of Wonderful Things、www.AndrewSullivan.com - Daily Dish等優秀博客網無不是如此。
木子美對博客世界最大的負面影響就是誤導了博客的發展方向，讓無數少男少女都去網上寫日記，使得博客在中國的發展完全偏離了正常的軌道，嚴重低俗化。
